Ended up removing it, taking the wire out of the sheath, cutting it down, sanding down a bit of rust on it, oiling the sheath, re-installing, added a few better bends and works like new.

I will also make up a sheetmetal tab and put it very close to the carb seems to alleviate it getting stiff with time and use// that way it holds the sheath from movin around
