Wayne, my uncle, converted it in 2000 to 8 lug 71 system to haul a fifth wheel. I think that was his reason. It originally came with 6 lug drums and now I have discs.
The Dana 60 in an open 3:42 rear but the spacer bugs me. The wheels are okay but the rears do not seem centered in the wheel openings. Too far forward? Would lowering the rear help that?
Centering the rear is a matter of cutting the attachment brackets off and rewelding them? Then I would have spacers on each side? Or is there another alternative from another truck which would give me a posi for a reasonable cost? I am interested in a bit more traction as these tires break loose at any opportunity. so I guess I am leaning more to the five lug so I can put passenger car tires on.
thank you for your advice
Ray
