I agree that you shouldn't have to. Worst case, I don't see the need for a spacer more than say 1/4". The reason that I recommend the '67-'72 small block frame brackets is that they fit the '60-'62 frames quite nicely. Much better than the '63-'66 or '67-'72 230/250 I6 brackets.
