Agree with Orange about those clips. I used them long time ago and they stayed on and prevented oil from shooting out of rockers but oil gushing out fell on the sides of the block and made a mess.
I've used card board but the best one is the used valve cover. Just have to make sure you don't cut so much out that it allows the oil to still squirt out. Just cut enough so that you can get the socket on the adjusting nut.
If you haven't already done it, google and try the static method first to see if it works for you and if still clacks some do the other method.
