The carpeting my 69 CST/20 with buckets and console did not cover the entire floor. There was nothing, not even padding, under the seats. The brackets were painted black. I redid them in satin black. If I recall correctly, where the brackets did contact the carpet they were on top. Here's a picture of the original carpet for reference. The cutouts where the driver side seat goes were enlarged when an overactive English Setter puppy took out his frustration in 1972. Therefore, that side is not a good seat area reference. The area cut out in the center was to accommodate the front of the console
