The 72 ball joints will fit the earlier control arms. Pressed or bolted.
As long as your use ing the 71-72 ball joints with the same year spindles your good to go.
The one thing I'm not sure on is the steering stops on the lower control arms. But my kids truck has pretty much the same setup as yours with no problems.
