That's a very valid and practical question. Ask the folks in Europe about gasoline prices. The scary thing is that in the not so distant future we'll probably be saying stuff like "remember back when gas was "ONLY $2/gal?" One economist predicts that this summer the cost of gas will cause a "behavior modifying" change in our driving habits. Whether these gas increases are real or just greed at work, who knows what the real truth is. If I have to change to a smaller displacement, the engine layout will have to be designed to at least allow enough access to work on it.
