This is where I am having an issue, I cant find a two way vented gas cap for a 72 that has ever existed.
have you ever open your cap and it had pressure or spewed fuel back upon an open? If so your cap is not two way vented or its faulty.

The vent didn't exist until 1971. 70 and earlier don't have anything there. Its just a filler neck.
