That's a heck of a lot of extra effort to go to just to run a 1 piece driveshaft. I can never understand why guys are so blooming afraid of 2 piece driveshafts as long as they are done right.

If you go ahead and go one piece I'd say weld in a piece that resembled a driveshaft hoop on a race car in the area you cut out and then cut a notch in the front of the box and do something similar and then on the back of the cab.
