I kept mine stock. I am kinda cheap I guess, plus I did my swap over 10 years ago and the bracket selection was not what it is now.
Yes it is tight, I install mine after I put the engine in. It must slip in from the front. I also built my own motor mounts and everything is low and slid back as far as possible. I have not had any issues with it, the hoses fit but again it is all tight.
I am embarking on a swap in a 1971 Camaro and I will need the high mount for it as there is no room to put the compressor in the factory stock location.
Anything is possible sometimes it just takes some creativity.
