Re: compatibility question.

There are a few things to be careful of. Door insides changed quite a bit for a few years around the time power windows were introduced. Glass thickness and window vents had variations. Fuse boxes changed from glass tubes to newer design at one point. For power steering, check that tubing has same threads before attempting to fit. Otherwise there is a lot of interchange. Induction and ignition changed. Points to HEI early on, Carb to low pressure efi at the very end of the run. The efi was actually pretty decent. Suburbans and 1 tons kept the squarebody a few years longer. If wanting to change around frontends, it is usually good to get the radiator support as well as front body panels and hood, since they changed too. Those are some of the things that it seems that people tend to ask about. The best way to get up to speed is to spend a few days reading old threads. The longer ones tend to be common issues. This forum seems to be unusually helpful and supportive, but occasionally someone might express a bit of frustration if something has been addressed to death before, but the poster didn't feel it was worth their time to look it up themselves. For any real abuse though, these guys are too mature to really get creative about it. Pirate 4 by 4 is probably the best place to go to get abusive answers to questions, legitimate or not, but occasionally somebody there really knows their drivetrains. Half the time however, some dude will submit a reply designed to make somebody feel pathetic for not having Dana series 280 differentials and 50 inch tires This forum is unusually supportive. I have asked some really basic questions, and have only gotten great insight here.
