The skinny Red Hazard Warning Switch was the original part. They get brittle and sometimes snap off. The Black switch with outer ring was the AC-Delco replacement. The red switch was earlier nd the black switch was later production, but I don't know the timeline for certain.
I thought the red switch was from '68, [my '67 has a chrome button like a door lock tab] and the black switch came on by '70 or '71, but I see red switch examples in later trucks, so I'm confused.
I remember replacing my red switch Turn Signal Switch assembly in 1978 when the red tab broke and there were other issues with the TSW. The Chevy dealer sold me a black tab T/S Switch as factory replacement.
