Honestly can't remember thinking about it, guessing there's a cut mark or something on the tip. Either way as it's not critical as it's self-leveling and you are going to be able to control the flow either by moving quicker or pumping less... again just be careful on the down slope as mine is pretty thick at the bottom (still not a big deal but if I did another I'd use less there)
