Re: Road Draft Tube Conversion

Update : Possible issue

So I goaded my dad into driving my truck to Los Angeles instead of taking his Honda, and while down there, I noticed something.

On the back of the manifold, there is a vacuum port between the carb and the distributor. I previously had the pcv line from the road draft tube connected there.

I had noticed that the driver side valve cover breather is allowing oil droplets to land on the valve cover and film it over. I thought this to be unusual since the PCV valve and line should pull air IN through the breather, not allow it to film over with oil.

I pulled it the other day to inspect it thinking that the line was blocked or something, and noticed oil in the line. Nothing creamy, but there was lots of oil residue.

I decided to move the line to the front vacuum port on the front of the quadrajet, and after driving about 700 miles, i took the hose off, and saw more oil in the line.

Could this be because of a missing baffle in the valley, or is there something else going on here?

I remember seeing a thread a long while back where someone filled a small soup can with steel wool, and had that act as a catch can for extra oil. I'm assuming that it was done due to blow-by issues, but I cannot for the life of me find the thread.
