I use 18 for everything since it is a little easier to bend and matches the thickness of the original. I just picked up some 16 gauge I would consider using for the floor if I still had flor work to do. Going to use the 16 to make a new battery tray and patch my inner fenders where they rusted in the front, but that's about it. Good luck
