Re: Shut off valve for heater core?
I just replaced all the tubing, or hose, whatever its called back in fall. At the same time i cleaned the diverter box thoroughly.there was a large mouse or rat nest in there, and flushed the heater core also. The diverted box is broken at the bottom where the screws are and the rubber seal is , well non-existent. The defrost and heat work good, it's just now its coming into our warm season and i cant stand having heat blowing on me when its already hot outside. I lived in SouthWest Florida for almost 5 years, during that time I drove a GMC Sonoma,it was a decent little truck ex cab, 2wd 17" factory alum wheels, 4cyl, 5spd. the fuel mileage was great at 400-440 miles per tank. anyhow for 2 whole, HOT south Florida summers, i had to drive with the heat on to keep it from over-heating, all the while replacing parts of the cooling system 1 at a time. Turned out to be the fan clutch, after i had spent a grand on every other cooling system part i could replace. Sorry for the run-on here, point is, after that i have zero tolerance for heat blowing during summer months. I cant afford to replace the box at this moment, but it is on my list of purchases. I just want a cheap, temporary fix for the moment
