GMT 800 Brakes on 1969

We are going to be doing some upgrades to my 1969 GMC c1500 soon. This will include 31+" tires and modern wheels. His truck already weighs more then the average 69 with the 305 V6 engine so I'm concerned about stopping power with larger tires. I know the drum brakes won't be up to the task. This will mean going to big disc brakes. Recently I was servicing the front brakes on my Dad's 03 Silverado. It has large rotors and dual piston calipers plus a 6 lug like the 69. Has anyone looked into using the brakes off a GMT 800?

I know that the 73+ front suspension is supposed to be a bolt on deal but I would like to keep the 6 lug and I'm concerned about the stopping power. The aftermarket kits appear to be based on this system as well but I would like to comfirm if they use this parts for serviceing.
