Looks like you are re writing history a bit. We will define medium duty as the 105" conventional cab with large front fenders and running boards. The 3500 was the lightest '63-66 GMC medium duty truck ( 10,500-20,000 GVW). The 4000 was available in the 15,000-24,000 GVW range. Many front and rear axles were interchangeable between these models to give similar GVW's, yet different series.
