Pretty sure I used Western spindles (maybe 2.5" or 3") plus a 1-2" spring and then just messed with the spring to cut it down to exactly how I wanted it. I am pretty sure I pulled it apart 2-3 times to make it look exactly how I wanted it to. The final time was a 3/8" adjustment and that made it perfect as far as I was concerned. There is some science to it I suppose, but being able to dial it in was not too much work, but gave me what I wanted. Rear was just a 3" de-arching of the springs at a spring shop.
