No, and the beauty of that method is that it allows you to dial in the drop. If your spring set is off 1/4" one side to the other, you can have the spring shop fix it. Getting a "new" spring gets you a drop in terms of inches, but you really have no basis as a starting point since the truck is 35-40 years old. De-arching solves that. I did it to a 2wd Blazer I had 20+ years ago and drove it daily for 12 years, pulled a 21' boat with it and had no issues, ever. Don't be scared - figure out how much to take out of each side and have them done. You will impress yourself with the results!
