8 lug is 3/4 ton and 1 ton trucks. 4X4 all had 6 lugs. 4X4 never had a big block.
Partial VIN is stamped on the drivers side frame near the steering box. Take a wire brush or same sandpaper to clean the top rail down to bare metal.
