I can't imagine a shop charging that much money & not even road testing the vehicle. If it overheated in that short of time they probably left a lot of air still in the cooling system, or left a bad leak. Back in the 60's & 70's we had a lot of cam failures. We used to replace the cam & lifters without going through the rest of the engine. I never had a failure. You would have been run out of town if you tried to sell something like that. Now when a timing chain wipped out the plastic sprocket you sure better pull the pan & clean out the pieces. You need to see Judge Judy.
