First off, don't use teflon tape on flare fittings!
Makes them leak. They seal on the flare, not the threads.
If you have a fitting that doesn't seal well, then you gotta move a little metal.
Snug it up, back it off, snug it up a little further, back it off again and then snug it up a little further yet. The flare heats up a little and the mating surfaces seat togethor.
You might need to do it several times.
We used to call that 'lapping'!
