Re: Business Logo

Let me prefice this by saying I have studied marketing, it's a hobby of mine. I LOVE marketing.

A "Logo" is an utter waste of time unless you are spending millions of dollars educating the consumer what it means. A "logo" means nothing to the consumer unless they have been taught. You want them to KNOW what you can do for them with glance. Often cute logos take time to learn what they even say! You DO NOT want that!

The very first yellow page ad I got 35 years ago was a great education. The guy who helped me with it was retired so he had nothing to sell me, he was only there to help me.

I will never forget how he showed me the size of the ad wasn't very important, how what was most important is a clear "what do I have for you" message in your sign or name.

Something I will always say when someone has some cute font instead of clear block letters, "Why don't they use that font on the street signs along the interstate?" They don't because making it easy for everyone to read and get the message is what is most important!

I can not say this clear enough, the sign should be concise, it should be clear to anyone who even glances at it. What you do, what you DO, what you have to offer them, THAT should be the focus and not cute names, font, or logo.

Ask people who don't know what you do what they think of your sign or "logo" before you finalize it.
