The problem with most aftermarket senders is the float arm pivot is used to pass the rheostat wiper ground. The float arm doesn't make good contact with the gauge body through the pivot when the vehicle is in motion because it can't be tight enough to bind up and has problems with contact because of that.
I would guess the ACD senders have a better engineered conductor arrangement from the wiper to the stationary sender body. You could accomplish the same by soldering copper braid from the float arm to the suction pipe or some other close stationary part of the sender.
The other option is to damp the actual fuel gauge with a special non hardening damping gel to slow the shaft movement.
