The e38 runs a separate TCM and can be used for just engine control, but you will lose control of things like DFCO, which uses the speed to control the decel fuel cutoff. They aren't crucial, but they can be nice to have for the sake of driveability.

Thanks....Again, I don't want to disable or delete VVT....
I won't have a TCM, as I am running a SM465 manual trans. So if the E38 ECM needs a VSS signal, what is the best way to get the required signal? I am thinking one of the sensors/encoders (made by Painless and a couple of others) that screws into the mechanical speedo drive on my transfer case....?
