It depends on what you buy. I believe with the trans mount kit you will need to at least drop, maybe remove the trans.

I used the floor mount kit, I did not remove the trans, you just need to look at what you have, think about it, measure, cut a small hole first, then work from there. The floor mount model needs to be offset to the DS so the shift arm lines up with the one on the trans.

I think mine is the shorter one. Been in the truck since 2006, $$$, but great product.

Mine is hooked to a 700R4 and I bump shift it between 3rd and OD all the time.
