"Stepsides are ugly?" Did you hit your head on a lift?
I've always thought stepsides were more graceful looking and different with most everything being a fleet. Besides, a stepside is far easier to sweep out and load, in my opinion. I have been a stepside fan since about 1979 when I was old enough to recognize dad's stepside which became my stepside.

As for length, trucks are for hauling and the longer the bed, the more load is hauled. Patina though, ugh, have to agree with you there..... rust is rust.
I just see it as a bit of "friendly rivalry," on this site.
