Re: Ls alt wiring

sorry for reviving this thread but Im stumped..

I just finished putting a 2002 lq9 in my 72 c10 and I'm having and issue with the ammeter gauge. It worked fine with the old 250 6 banger but ever since I put the new motor in the gauge is always reading towards the charge side of the gauge and once the electric fans come on it pins all the way to charge side. The instruction manual that came with my harness (painless performance) said to add a 5 watt resistor to the brown wire and so thats the only modifications that I've done to the alternator wiring. Im afraid that I am going to hurt the gauge by always having it pinned out... Any ideas on why the gauge is always reading towards the charge side?

Thanks ahead of time...
