The work involved and money spent would probably get you an extra 2 to 3 MPG. So lets say you spend 2500 for a trans (rebuilt). the motor would have to be pulled and moved (labor) drive shaft may need to be shortened or lengthened. If your not doing the work yourself add 1500-2000. If you are what is your time worth? So if you put 4k to 4.5k in your trans, how much do you have to drive it to save that much gas? I thought it out like this already. I would do a full ls drivetrain swap if I was concerned about the gas mileage. I didn't buy a K5 to save gas. LOL!
