Is this a good idea or a bad idea?

Building my 1970 Chevy c10 currently, once it's done it'll have a fully rebuilt motor, transmission, suspension (5.5/7 drop), brakes, new radiator, new wiring harness, basically every nut and bolt touched, torqued and thoroughly checked.

Here's where I might be crazy. Bonneville is this October of 2017. I want to go, I know someone going out there to run. And I've always wanted to go, and so I figured why not take my rebuilt (hopefully by then) 70 Chevy.

So am I crazy? I live in Virginia, so it's about 2000 miles. Of course I'll take my tools and some new u joints.

Anyone ever done this before? On here? Tips?
