Hey, I was 16 when I dropped my truck too so your not alone there. What do you mean by did the frame come close to the bed? I did not add any metal above the frame, I just reinforced what metal was there. And yes, I did only go down 3" in the front. I would like to go down more but the college budget is a killer.
