Re: K20 or K10 Burb, that is the question.

New to the forum, but being have 40 years experience towing. I grew up on a horse farm so we towed live stock, trailer an horses combined weighed about 3500 Lbs, and those animals could through a 1/2 ton pickup all over the road! Our next vehicle was a 3/4 ton big block Suburban - much better with the heavier springs and frame, yet still presented an issue with moving cargo. After the Suburban went to a 1-ton big block and that worked well.

Normally 3500 lbs would be considered light towing, but I have learned to appreciate the heavier springs used on the 3/4 and one ton trucks, not to mention the much heavier brakes! My current tow vehicle is a 1978 C20 Camper Specail with a 454 and I do not tow anything over 5000 lbs (travel trailer) these days - no longer on the farm and do not haul livestock. Light towing can be done with a 1/2 ton, but is it safer with a 3/4 ton.
