On the side of the trans there is a fill plug around midway up the trans. take it out and stick your finger in the hole. if no oil on your finger it's low. add oil till it runs out of the hole. I would drain it (remove the plug from the bottom of the trans) and put new oil is it as it's old anyway. Use any reg 80/90 weight gear lube.
