I powdercoated mine.
It always makes me think of my 2+2 (in this month's Hemming's Muscle Machines, btw!) which was restored at Musclecar Restoration in WI. They go all out... they putty, fill, and block sand the frame. It looks like it was laser cut and welded, a fresh brand new stamping.
My truck isn't bad because it was never very rusty, so it's not pitted, but the Pontiac was. It would never have occurred to me to visually "restore" the frame stamping! But it looks swanky... it's "over-restoration" at its finest, but looks amazing.
