Or will a block mount starter work with the stock bell housing? Thanks!
I put a 396/425hp engine(65 or 66 year model I bought brand new) in a '55 chevy CAR using a '57 v-8 chevy car starter, retaining the original bellhousing with its orig. motor supports. The 55 Chevy car originally used the starter that bolted to the bellhousing quite similar to our trucks. If it fit that ap., so much older than our 60-66 trucks, I'd think the big block would fit our trucks likewise.

Did I say I don't know and that I have never done what you asked?

HTH,
Sam
