It's a pita too lift the engine too pull the pan and get it all buttoned back up even with a one piece gasket.
If your pickup isn't brazed good it's too easy to shift it upwards.
Plus unless you have a lift all that work laying on your back isn't fun.

I would pull the whole thing so much easier doing it on a stand.
And you can get everything cleaned up nicely.
