I hate to be the one to tell you but Proform isn't known for quality parts. Even their valve covers are kinda cheesy. Even if you get the clearance and push rod length sorted out I would still be nervous every day I drove it. It wouldn't cost a lot to get better ones. Let us know if you solve that noise.
