Not being familiar with the Hotchkiss springs are these a two inch drop? If so then new shocks are not required, but there are affordable good choices that will be a large improvement over the stock ones. For the rear using drop blocks instead of springs will work very well plus the shock geometry will not be changed so no need to change mounts. If you do the drop and drive it a hundred miles or so then do the shocks you will see what each contributes to the package.
Just my two cents worth. You results may vary.
