ever heard of "rivnut" ? the tool is much like a rivet gun but it has a trheaded stud that you screw a rivnut onto then install like a rivet by putting in the hole and smashing down. Then unscrew the threaded stud out of there and there you go. I am not clear on the area you are talking about so this will not work if you cant drill the lole out bigger to accept the larger outside diameter of the rivnut. If you are talking about the mirrors that hang on your doors then I think it would work.
