Duramax would be amazing, but kind of a different animal. Way more power and towing ability. Way more complex and cost of components is certainly higher.
The 6.5 option is a good one. I had one in a 94 blazer. Great truck and engine. Easier to bolt in than a 4Bt. My 4bt seems to have more power. Certainly at lower rpms and lower speeds. Closer match on the interstate but I would still give the edge to the 4BT. 4Bt get better mileage than my 6.5 did. Not by much, but better.
