Stop equating engine RPM with speed. Diesels are not high revving. You do not need to spin them up like a gasser to get your HP and torque. You gear it for 1800rpm at 65mph and by the time you spin it up to 3000rpm you are going plenty fast. DMax's don't spin any faster than a Cummins or a P-stroke.
