Re: Radiator Hoses
Mixing new with old never look right. But if its all you have at the moment. Its works but looks out of place.I've had a fan bolt brake on me.Not fun I was on a steep grade. That's why i used the pulleys off my 3 ton bob tail that use to use a 3 pulley system. For the PTO.Ya i heard that mother snap it went into the fan and it was gone But i had 1 more holding strong.
I'm not a one belt man.I don't have money falling out of my butt.A engine now days is 2500 used is 1200 for a trusted one and 500 for taking a gamble.
I've done some research on on the radiator hoses and i found out the one i like the best is the 1967-68 chevy truck 327 water housing out let is straight out words.
I use the Edalbrock performer intake with the temp sending unit right next to the water out let housing. The one that comes on the 1969-72 sucks can't use the temp sending unit the hose hits it.But with the 1967-68 327 out let on a 350 most of them are cast iron better.I kill to birds with 1 stone one throw.
They make a top hose that curves just right over the shroud and snakes right to the upper out let.Never had a problem.Never had a blown head gasket.Been in the scraping business for over 24 years.Lost 3 hoses but never fried the motor.
I'm a gauge watcher every 2 miles i glance at my gauges go over 490K on one motor pulling a trailer.Have to double my mileage like a bus or a motor home cus of the weight my engine pushes. Here are some pics on the 9 trucks i own from 1964-72
