Some of it is personal preference, some like them all the way back for better weight distribution and some like them in the factory location. But if it were me, id put the cab on to make sure its where you want it to be. You're doing a mock up, so mock it up. Nothing worse than getting everything welded up and powder coated only to find out it isn't in the right spot. Just my $0.02
