Possible solution to fill-in gap for rear sport bumper

Been racking my brain trying to think of something simple that would fill the gap between the tailgate and the sport bumper I just put on my 86!2wd C10. I thought I would take a chance and order a piece of sheet metal, that is cut to fit, then all I will have to do is paint it and drill a few holes. Seemed like a simple solution, the sheet-metal only cost six dollars, but $18 to ship it to me, go figure. It is 18gauge metal so should be plenty rigid enough for my application but yet easy to drill holes in.... I ordered a piece 4 inches wide, by 66 inches long. Bear in mind this is just a trial run, so we will see how it goes.... here is the website I ordered it from http://www.speedymetals.com/s-158-cold-finished.aspx

I will keep this post updated as it goes, thanks
