Re: tailgate artwork
This was always a big thing on pickups back in the day. I remember the thing on the North Coast in the '70s around Eureka was the western picked-style lettering, sometimes with fade-out air brush work. I always wanted to to something like a desert scene mural in the letters. Mask the tailgate and only paint the letters. On a Chevy the letters are a lot of area and enough to catch the scene. On a GMC you have the area around the letters instead. I've considered having my '67 GMC tailgate chromed, polished letters, rubber mask letters, blast, and paint tailgate to have chromed letters. I know that's expensive and there are chrome alternatives. But nothing looks like real chrome and chroming was always a trick thing before bolt-on customs.
