Re: Towing with a short wheel base

Only towing I do is a 25 foot TT on a 2005 Tundra. People tow 6K trailers and that, but I won't take the risk nor put the stress on the truck. It's just a 4.7 liter, and not heavy duty like the new Tundras. Anyway, the truck is rated 11,600. It sits dry at 5K. Add people, fluids, cargo and the camper shell, figure 2000 max. That leaves just 4600. The trailer weighs 3825 dry.

On a side, I wouldn't mind switching up to a 67-72 and vintage cabin.

And I'm not going to tell you what I did with a weight distribution pipe.........God intervention I walk normal. Word of caution. A. Keep your body parts out of the way when raising and lowering the bars. But mostly.......B. Handle the bars only when there's slack in the chains. Trust me, it's not enough to put the tongue jack on the block, especially when taking the bars off (yikes).........Jack it up so there's slack in the chains.

Lucky for us that was the last stop before home, after a great couple weeks on the right side of the coast line.

Towing and cargo is serious business. I know lots of people that have been injured, and some very badly.

I developed an assembly guide (kit) for restoring this truck from the ground up, complete with details including full hardware descriptions. Much of the info. applies to all 67-72 GM. My build thread, with some info. about the assembly kit https://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/...d.php?t=730025
