hey, thanks for all the warm welcomes =D

I could have posted pics... but I have about 35 on my cardomain site, and I spent about 2-3 hours making it, just for this reason. Hehe, mostly I just didnt want to uplaod a bunch of pics, when I already have them on a site.

I love my stereo =). It was metered at 157.4 Decibles on the drivers side near the floor next to the 6x9, about a week after I installed it, which means the subs hadnt really had time to break in. Now It should put out about 159-161 Db's at the same mic location. It only has 2 10 inch subs, with 300 RMS, 900 peak of powere to each, but they hit harder than most people with 3 10's, or 2 12", simply because they have to go through a back seat(in the trunk) or have an SUV which has a ton of internal volume. Basically, I need way less power and speakers than people with cars or SUV's, because a little really does go a long way. Most people's subs arent 10 inches from their door speakers, which means I can hit the same, or better volumes with smaller speakers. If you look at the pics of my sub install pics, you'll see why most people dont do what I did, at least without relocating the gas tank(yep.. my tank is still behind my seat ). As for clarity, I have Alpine Type-R 6x9's pushed by a 35W RMS/90 peak external amp(to each speaker), and a 40 watt RMS alpine mono amp pushing the 2 infinity tweeters in the dash. Im not using the internal amp in the deck, because they KILL your sound quality- lots of other parts in them means a lot of internal noise going to your speakers. Also, the deck says it puts out 50W /4, which im sure it does, but thats peak power- the RMS is only 23, which is still above average compared to most decks.

Its a SQ/SPL stereo- its still louder than I want to listen to it, without sacrificing clarity. The subs still sound great even when im listening to rock and stuff- they just add the low tones that you loose in normal speakers. Plus I can crank up my EQ and thump my gangster rap when I feel like it. Hehe

edit: I forgot to mention. I kinda misunderstood your post. True, the thing is a big metal can, but I have a 1/4 inch of DYNOMAT covering the floor underneath the carpet, and another 1/2 inch inside the door on the far side of the speaker. Soon im going to build some little enclosurs for my 6x9's, because when the cones in them build pressure, it makes the snap in door panels buzz sometimes. But sound-deading is the key to a clean sounding system. I'd dynomat the roof if i could
