I have a vehicle that the same thing happened to . I ordered a new one and it was junk ( failed ) . I took the old one and a file and filed the notches back in the pawl and cleaned up the other part as well . It has worked perfect for a long time .

If you can not find one I would give it a try . It would at least get you past the inspection . When I did mine it was a good solid fix .

You might throw some pictures up to see how bad it is .
