I FOUND IT! Turns out it wasnt in the front end, but it was the carrier bearing, or possibly the U joints. the bracket that was holding the carrier bearing broke so i go that fixed, along with the drive shaft fixed because when it broke the ears on the yoke were all jacked up. $400 later new joints, new carrier bearing, drive shaft looks brand new, and the squeak is gone! ride quality is unspeakably better. so happy
